Maria Teresa Velasco CVMaria Teresa Velasco, the senior partner of Velasco Lawyers, was born in Granada where she studied classics and languages, (fluent in English and French. and a knowledge of Danish and Italian).
In 1992 she gained a law degree from the University of Granada followed by a further year attending the lawyers’ school (“Curso de Práctica Jurídica”) where she qualified as a lawyer and barrister in 1993.( Lawyer registration Nº 3676 ).
Since opening her office in the centre of Granada, her curriculum vitae, reads as follows:
1994 - 2000: Specialised in family and civil affairs (Divorce/Separation, Civil cases involving land, segregation of assets and contracts).
1994 - 2002: Worked as a public attorney in the legal aid system providing legal advice in matters of family, immigration and criminal law.
1994 - to date: Advised companies in the law of tax planning and accountancy
1998 - 2000: Specialist lawyer in criminal cases. Litigation at the High Court in Granada (Audiencia Provincial) and at the Criminal Court in Madrid.
1998 - 2001: Became a founding member of an immigration specialist group in the Lawyers School (Secretaria del Grupo Jurídico de Extranjería de Granada). Helped to organize meetings and contributed articles regarding immigration matters to the lawyers’ magazine.
2000 - to date: Litigation in court in Granada/Madrid/Malaga/Almeria civil cases (land/contracts,).
2000: Obtained certificate in Banking Practice.
2001 - to date: Attended various seminars and obtained certification in the rights of Foreigners and Family Law organized by the Colegio de Abogados de Granada
2001 - to date: Conveyancing of property / Court civil cases.
2004 - to date: Member of the International Bar Association.
2006 - to date: Student of Danish language and culture in the sprogskole of Århus
2009 - to date: Student of Swedish language in the Folkuniversitetet of Stockholm and Göteborg
